You Can Have It All - Eventually
There was an expert on Canada AM this morning who spoke about why women try to be all they can be, and then some.
(I don’t know if she was an author, and I don’t recall her name. I was getting Mini-Me dressed for school, and just listening to the television.)
A quarter of the way through the interview said expert lost her train of thought, which was quite funny.
But that’s not the point!
She said that men tend to define their lives as work and family.
But women define it as work, family, spending time with friends, giving back to the community, etc, etc. Not only do today’s women want everything, they want it all done perfectly.
Now of course real life isn’t so cut and dry for all men or women.
But the point she brought up is fairly true for New Project Addicts.
You cannot have it all. Or, as said expert explained it - you can have it all. You just can’t have it all at the exact same time.
As a New Project Addict we have a difficult time staying on task with one thing. But I know from personal experience that if I don’t define what I want from life at that given moment, I just kind of aimlessly float around.
I want it all, but in reality I cannot have it all.
I REALLY want to volunteer at a hospice, and comfort the dying. I feel like it’s part of my life’s mission. I want to do it now.
But I know that in my business there’s an ebb and a flow. Right now I’m in the flow period, and volunteering might mentally take me off track. During the ebb period I can pursue it.
You have to define what you want from life so that you can continue to choose projects that keep your attention.
Something to think about today.
Takin’ it one project at a time,
