Think A to B, Not A to Z
I was sitting here reading a blog entry that someone else had written about how to effectively organize your e-mail.
There were like 9 steps to completing the process.
I don’t know about you, but there’s no way I could even imagine using 9 steps to sort e-mail. I don’t even use 9 steps to fry chicken!
Besides, if you’re performing let’s say 5 multi-step tasks during the day, you’re going to get bogged down with details.
That’s not good for a New Project Addict who already has difficulties focusing.
So the message for today is to minimize your actions.
For example, here’s my rudimentary e-mail sorting method:
- If I don’t want it, delete it.
- If I want it, keep it.
- When I need to find it, I search for it in Gmail.
No sorting.
Just searching.
The bottom line is that I can still find what I need when I need it.
That’s productivity NPA style.
Takin’ it one project at a time,
Alexis Dawes
